Dominik

Zenner

Chair

MD, PhD, Barts TB Centre, Queen Mary University of London

If we are to make progress in global TB control, it is obvious and essential to provide TB care to all population groups, including all migrants.

Dominik is dually qualified as general practitioner and epidemiologist and has worked at national and international level in infectious disease epidemiology and migration health. He has been one of the architects of the TB strategy for England, which he helped implement, including leading the roll out of the national latent TB screening programme, the health aspects of the UK refugee programme and the UK pre-entry TB screening programme. He has a demonstrated academic and strategic interest in infectious disease epidemiology and migration health, including several high impact publications and prizes. His work has informed national and international policy, including ECDC and WHO guidelines.

Ioana Margineanu

Chair

MD, PhD, Marie-Curie Alumni, University Medical Centrum Groningen, the Netherlands

Academic supervisor, Warwick University

if only tuberculosis was a sexy disease.

Ioana has started her career as a MD in internal medicine in Romania. She then manifested an interest for lung sciences, then for tuberculosis, which led her to the Netherlands. Her PhD focuses on “common sense solutions” for tuberculosis, which involve the use of innovative technologies and long-term human-oriented improvements. Her interests span a wide range, from organising events to systematic reviews and policy development.

Ioana's curiosity has led her to do many different things - to the point where it is now increasingly difficult to describe the full range of skills and abilities on a CV, but she has tried to organise it here: https://www.ioanamargineanu.com

Deliana Garcia

Emeritus Advisor

Global Civil Society Organizer for the Americas

Director, Migrant Clinicians Network

Austin, Texas, United States of America

I can kind of step forward and bring up with me other folks who haven't had the education, and don't have the skill for communication, or just haven't had the experience. They need to watch somebody do it, and then they're going to get it, and they're going to be able to do it themselves.

Deliana Garcia (Del) is the Director of International Projects and Emerging Issues for the Migrant Clinicians Network (MCN). In that position she has worked for 30 years to meet the health care needs of migrant workers and other underserved mobile populations. With expertise in reproductive health, access to primary care, chronic care management and infectious disease control and prevention, including vaccine preventable disease, Del is responsible for the development of new projects within MCN. She is responsible for the design and management of MCN’s Health Network, a global system of bridge case management to provide continuity of care and health records transfer across National and International border for migrants diagnosed with all health access needs.
